Volunteer for Camp:

Want to make a difference in the lives of our campers? Volunteer at camp! Spend time as a cabin counselor or assisting as support staff! All volunteers must be at least 19 years of age. Spots are open for volunteers in Pyoca Weeks 1 - 4.

We are currently seeking volunteer Chaplains and Healthcare Supervisors! Are you a pastor, Christian educator, or youth director? Join us for a week leading daily Bible studies, Chapel, and providing spiritual care to our staff and campers. Are you a current Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed prescriber (MD)? Join us this summer as a Healthcare Supervisor dispensing medications, providing basic healthcare needs for camp, and serving on-call for emergencies.

Chaplains and Healthcare Supervisors are eligible for one free session of camp for their child/grandchild. Time commitment is one week, Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Interested in joining us? Email Program Director Rev. Molly DeWitt at program@pyoca.org today!

We will launch our online applications for counseling and support staff volunteers in January 2024. All returning volunteers, which is anyone who has volunteered for a Pyoca youth program in the last twelve months, are to complete the Returning Volunteer Application. Anyone who has not volunteered in this capacity at Pyoca in the past twelve months must complete the new volunteer application.

Application Portal

If you have previously registered yourself or a child for a program through our online registration portal CampBrain, you will use the same login information.

Once volunteer applications have been submitted, your application will be processed and you will schedule a call with Pyoca staff for a brief interview.

Pyoca runs annual background checks and policy/child protection training for all staff and volunteers. All volunteers must pass a background check to work with camp programs. Volunteers will gather online via Zoom for camp policy/child protection training held the first two weeks of June.

Jackson County 50/50 Ultramarathon: Saturday, December 2, 2023

Join us on Saturday, Dec. 2nd for the Jackson Co. 50/50 Ultramarathon. Each year we partner with D.IN.O. (Do INdiana Off-road) to host their last ultramarathon of the year. Runners have their choice of three races: 10 miles, 50k, or 50 miles. The race begins and ends on the playfield behind Pyoca's Lodge.

VOLUNTEER: Each year we invite members of the community to volunteer at aid stations throughout the Jackson-Washington State Forestry. Runners will race along a 10-mile loop throughout the forestry, which begins and ends at Pyoca. Volunteers will pass out snacks and drinks to runners throughout key areas along the race route. Volunteers can volunteer all day, or sign up for specific time slots between 8:00AM - 10:00 PM.

BUNDLE UP: The Jackson Co. 50/50 is held the first weekend of December each year, so it can get a bit chilly, but some years we have had beautiful 50 degree weather for the race. Be sure to bundle up and bring a friend!

If you are interested in volunteering for the race on Dec. 2nd, email program@pyoca.org. Thank you for your service and support of camp!
