CAPITAL CAMPAIGN MANAGER: Pyoca is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Project Manager (approximately 20 hours/week) to oversee the implementation of recommendations for an upcoming capital campaign.

ASSISTANT COOK: Assistant Cooks work closely with the Executive Director to deliver high-quality foodservice in an atmosphere of Christian hospitality to campers, guests, and staff. Part-time year-round and full-time summer positions available.

HOUSEKEEPER: Housekeepers provide a safe and clean environment to welcome our campers and guests. Strong candidates for this position will be self-motivated and have attention for detail. Part-time, year-round with flexible hours!

Summer 2025 Contract Positions:

NURSE: Minimum two years proven experience in the nursing field. The camp nurse will serve as the healthcare supervisor on-site for a minimum of one week-long camp session. They will be expected to abide by all policies, procedures and rules set by Pyoca, and be present and on time in the daily camp routine, interacting with campers, staff, and volunteers in a positive manner. It is expected that applicants possess at least an RN license in the State of Indiana, to conform with American Camp Association standards. The nurse will manage camper medications making sure they are dispensed at the correct times, and will be prepared to handle any emergencies that may arise at any point throughout the day/night. It is the duty of the camp nurse to report any major accidents or illnesses to full-time staff, and to serve nights “on call” to respond to emergencies that may arise after hours. The camp nurse will be compensated with a stipend of $1000, plus lodging and meals for the week, and has the option to bring one camper to participate in a camp session during their contracted week at no cost.

2025 Summer Staff Positions:

Summer staff applications open for the 2025 camp season on Wednesday, Nov. 27th at 12:00AM (EDT). Interviews and hiring will be conducted on a rolling basis. COUNSELOR: Minimum 19 years old, at least one year of college preferred. Staff will alternate between counselor and support staff roles throughout the summer. The counselor role, in-cabin with youth, includes: camper supervision and mentoring, adventure activity facilitation (low ropes/climbing tower/waterfront), leadership of daily programming (games, hiking, Bible study, campfire, etc.), and additional duties as assigned. The support staff role includes: program support for rental camps, adventure activity facilitation, and light maintenance duties as assigned. Must be willing to work as a team, practice effective conflict management, and hone communication skills. All staff will be expected to work with Pyoca programs, rental camp programs, volunteer staff, and C.I.T.s (Counselor in Training program). Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, accident insurance, and a base salary of $425 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

DAYCARE COUNSELOR: Minimum 19 years old, at least one year of college preferred. This position will alternate between serving as a daycare counselor and support staff counselor throughout the summer. This position will supervise the child(ren) of full-time staff, providing the child(ren) a fun, enjoyable experience, utilizing the outdoor space Pyoca offers as much as possible. Experience working with toddlers required. Must be willing to work as a team, practice effective conflict management, and hone communication skills. Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, workers compensation coverage, and a base salary of $425 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

ARTS & CRAFTS COORDINATOR: Minimum 20 years old, at least one year of college preferred. Will oversee and develop all craft/art programs for Pyoca, including all art camps, working directly with counselors, campers, volunteers, and C.I.T.s (Counselor in Training program). Individuals with art and digital media backgrounds preferred. Minimum compensation for Pyoca programs includes lodging, meals, workers compensation insurance, and a base salary of $450 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

DAY CAMP / NATURE EDUCATION COORDINATOR: Minimum 21 years old. Responsible for overseeing the daily programming and scheduling of Pyoca Day Camp sessions (1st - 6th grade), supervising and assisting assigned counselors, as well as training and facilitating camp adventure activities (including low ropes, waterfront, and climbing tower). Opportunities for lifeguard certification available. At least two years’ experience in a camp or youth leadership setting is preferred. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Will work closely with the Assistant Program Director and other support staff to implement daily programming, manage conflict, respond to behavioral concerns, and provide a safe and supportive community for campers, staff and volunteers. Other duties include: assisting with large group recreation (games, chapel, campfire); organizing and facilitating camper check-in; creating and implementing weekly schedules; nightly check-ins with staff, and relaying staff and camper communication to the Program Director. Will assist in leading staff training. Will develop and implement educational programs that connect campers with the natural world. This position requires a strong background in environmental education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire a love for nature in children. Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, workers compensation coverage, and a base salary of $470 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes. All unit coordinators will be trained in First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

EXPLORE CAMP COORDINATOR: Minimum 21 years old. Responsible for overseeing the daily programming and scheduling of Explore Camps (2nd - 4th grade), supervising and assisting assigned counselors, as well as planning alongside and shadowing the Explore Camp Volunteer Director. Opportunities for lifeguard certification available. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in a camp or youth leadership setting. Will work closely with the Assistant Program Director and other leadership staff to implement daily programming, manage conflict, respond to behavioral concerns, and provide a safe and supportive community for campers, staff and volunteers. Other duties include: developing and leading large group recreation (games, chapel, campfire); organizing and facilitating Explore check-in; creating and implementing weekly schedules; nightly check-ins with staff, and relaying staff and camper communication to the Program Director. Will assist in leading staff training. Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, workers compensation insurance, and a base salary of $470 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

DISCOVER CAMP COORDINATOR: Minimum 21 years old. Responsible for overseeing the daily programming and scheduling of Discover camps (4th - 6th grade), including Discover Creation; supervising and assisting assigned counselors, as well as facilitating camp adventure activities (including low ropes, waterfront, and climbing tower). Opportunities for lifeguard certification available. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in a camp or youth leadership setting. Will work closely with the Assistant Program Director and other support staff to implement daily programming, manage conflict, respond to behavioral concerns, and provide a safe and supportive community for campers, staff and volunteers. Other duties include: developing and leading large group recreation (games, chapel, campfire); organizing and facilitating Discover check-in; creating and implementing weekly schedules; nightly check-ins with staff, and relaying staff and camper communication to the Program Director. Will assist in leading staff training. Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, workers compensation insurance, and a base salary of $470 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

CHALLENGE CAMP COORDINATOR: Minimum 21 years old. Responsible for overseeing the daily programming and scheduling of Challenge camps (7th - 9th grade), including Challenge On the River; supervising and assisting assigned counselors, as well as facilitating camp adventure activities (including high ropes, low ropes, waterfront, and climbing tower). This includes leading campouts at our primitive campsite. High ropes and lifeguard training available. Applicants need to have at least one year of experience in a camp or youth leadership setting. Will work closely with the Assistant Program Director and other support staff to implement daily programming, manage conflict, respond to behavioral concerns, and provide a safe and supportive community for campers, staff and volunteers. Other duties include: leading large group recreation (games, chapel, campfire); organizing and facilitating Challenge check-in; creating and implementing weekly schedules; nightly check-ins with staff, and relaying staff and camper communication to the Program Director. Will assist in leading staff training. Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, workers compensation insurance, and a base salary of $470 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

MEDIA COORDINATOR: Minimum 20 years old, at least one year of college preferred. Responsible for documenting all areas of camp life, working with the Program Director to upload daily content to password protected parent galleries and Pyoca social media. Responsible for creating end-of-week slideshows to be shown at the final Chapel service. Will develop a promotional video for the following summer season. Must have working knowledge of, or be willing to learn, Adobe Creative Cloud software. Individuals with art and digital media backgrounds preferred. Minimum compensation for Pyoca programs includes lodging, meals, workers compensation insurance, and a base salary of $450 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

LIFEGUARDS: Minimum 16 years old. Must hold a current lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross. Will supervise campers/participants at waterfront, reporting to the Assistant Program Director. The stand-alone position will assist with camp program support as needed (recreation, campfires, etc.), perform light maintenance duties (kitchen assistance, boathouse upkeep, cleaning docks, etc.), and check daily waterfront equipment and program areas for safety. All staff will be expected to work with Pyoca programs, rental camp programs, volunteer staff, and C.I.T.s (Counselor in Training program). Minimum compensation for summer includes lodging, meals, accident insurance, and a base salary of $325 per week less appropriate deductions for taxes.

Any counseling or leadership staff interested in obtaining their lifeguard certification can do so at no cost to them. Lifeguard training is held each summer prior to all staff training. Counselors and Unit Coordinators will receive an extra $25/week for their certification.
